Saline Removal uses a tattoo machine to implant saline over existing permanent makeup. The saline draws pigment upward, creating a scab that lifts ink as it heals. Multiple sessions often required depending on pigment depth, color, and previous treatments.
Typically 2-6 sessions depending on pigment darkness, ink depth, and skin type. Sessions are spaced 6-8 weeks apart to allow healing and pigment migration. Lighter tattoos may clear faster; very dark or layered work can require additional treatments.
You may experience moderate discomfort during the procedure similar to tattooing; topical numbing is used to increase comfort. After treatment expect tenderness, mild swelling, and scabbing as pigment lifts. Pain is temporary and manageable with proper aftercare.
The treated area forms a scab within days; avoid picking. Scabs fall off in about 7-14 days revealing lighter pigment as skin heals. Full fading and assessment occur after 6-8 weeks; additional sessions scheduled if pigment remains. Follow aftercare to prevent infection.
Risks include temporary redness, swelling, scabbing, infection, or rare scarring if aftercare is neglected. Results can be unpredictable on certain pigments or skin types. Choose an experienced technician and follow pre/post care to minimize complications.
Complete removal isn't guaranteed. Saline can significantly fade many pigments, but factors like ink composition, depth, color, and prior treatments affect success. Some pigments may only lighten, requiring camouflage or color correction. We assess realistic expectations during consultation.
